NEW MEETING TIME

Sewells Point Lodge # 28 was founded/Chartered in April 1971. Our First Lodge President was Jake Hardison Our First Lodge Vice-President was Sid Cherry, Our First Conductor was William McFarland, Our First Lodge Secretary was James W. Everett, Our First Lodge Treasurer was Charlie Wagner, Sr. who finally stepped down (12-31-09), after 38 years of dedicated service.  Our First Lodge Guard is Unknown at this time, and our Chaplain was Ed Stankavich.

The first meeting was held in a Courtroom on the Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, Va., from there the lodge meetings were held at the N.O.B. Police Headquarters in Norfolk, VA.  After that the members met on the top floor of the Norfolk Democratic Club in Ocean View, Norfolk Va.,  In 1978 the lodge purchased its first lodge home located on Bonney Road in the City of Virginia Beach for $68,000.00

After being forced by the city of Virginia Beach to sell the property so the City of Virginia Beach could build a hotel (known as the Clarion Hotel) with the tough financial negotiations with Charlie Wagner and the rest of the board, the property on Bonney Road was sold for $100,000.00.  After the sale of the lodge home, the lodge meetings where held at the Helms Club located at the Little Creek Amphibious Base, Norfolk, VA., from there to the Norfolk FOP Commodore Lodge # 3 for the past 14 plus years.  Today we now meet at the Norfolk Moose Lodge # 39 located at 923 Glenrock Road, Norfolk, VA.  As of March 18th 2010 after 39 years, the lodge has moved our meeting nights from the 2nd Thursday of each month to the 3rd Thursday of each month.
